Mitsubishi Electric adds two short-throw models to its projector range.

The Mitsubishi Electric Australia Visual Information Systems Division have announced the release of two new short-throw projectors. Capable of projecting a 1.5m diagonal picture from as little as 83cm from the screen, the XD221U-ST and XD250U-ST projectors deliver stunning XGA resolution images with exceptional brightness and colour clarity.

Mitsubishi Electric XD250U-ST short-throw projectorThe XD221U-ST and XD250U-ST boast a range of features to deliver rich, vibrant colours for truly eye-catching presentations. BrilliantColor™ technology developed by Texas Instruments™ provides more accurate colour reproduction by boosting mid-tone colour levels. The five (XD221U-ST) and six (XD250U-ST) segment colour wheels, which add additional colour segments to the traditional red, green, blue and white, further broadens the range of colour these projectors can generate. Lastly, the Colour Enhancer feature gives the user a choice between six different colour modes to best suit the presentation.

“Because of the added freedom short throw projectors provide presenters with, they are becoming increasingly popular in the marketplace,” said Stuart Baker, Senior Manager of the Visual Information Systems division, Mitsubishi Electric.

“In a ceiling installation, the presenter can stand directly in front of the projector without worrying about their shadow being cast on the screen. When used as a portable unit the presenter can place our short-throw projectors right at the edge of a meeting room table and still deliver a large image size, whereas conventional projectors take up a lot more table space to deliver the same results.”

Long-life lamps (up to 5,000 hours for the XD221U-ST, a massive 6,000 hours for the XD250U-ST), filter-free design and low standby power usage means lower total cost of ownership, while network connectivity provides the added functionality of remote monitoring and control. The built-in 10 watt speaker means no external audio system is required, and with two separate 3.5mm audio inputs and an audio mixer, the projectors can simultaneously play audio from two sources, such as a DVD and a third-party wireless microphone, with independent control of both volume levels.
