Mitsubishi Electric is pleased to announce the release of the MDT551S - a new slim-line 55-inch LCD monitor in its range of high performance digital signage displays.
Utilising a commercial grade LCD panel and featuring the latest display technology, the MDT551S delivers excellent image reproduction, superior connectivity and long term operation in commercial and public display applications.
The MDT551S has been engineered to provide advanced connectivity, catering for almost any type of input. A major addition to the display’s connection options is the inclusion of an Intel OPS compatible slot, which allows installation of any Intel OPS compliant hardware, such as a personal computer card module. The expansion slot can also be used to install Mitsubishi Electric’s innovative CAT-5 transmitter/receiver pair*1, allowing both video and control signal data to be transmitted over the same network cable, or an SDI input card*2 for SD-SDI, HD-SDI and 3G-SDI support.
“Our new MDT551S display is a great choice for standalone public display installations where running cables or space for an input source is a problem.” said Matthew Hanna, Division Manager of Visual Information Systems, Mitsubishi Electric Australia. “By using a compliant PC card module with the display’s OPS slot, users have the ability to play video or run applications directly from the MDT551S, taking both cabling and source problems out of the equation.”
The MDT551S includes all the standard inputs such as VGA, DVI, Component and Composite. Using the HDMI and DisplayPort™ connections, high quality video and audio content can be transmitted over a single cable, and the MDT551S includes built-in speakers, for on-the-fly audio without the need to purchase additional components. The MDT551S also has a built-in 4 port USB hub, allowing multiple devices for a PC to be connected via the display (e.g touch screen overlay).
The MDT551S comes with twin ambient light sensors, located fore and aft of the display, which allow it to automatically and accurately adjust brightness to suit any environment. Colour matching is a key feature of the display, with 6-axis colour adjustment allowing users to adjust the hue and saturation of primary colours (R/G/B/C/M/Y) independently. The display also has a 120Hz refresh rate, providing smooth playback of fast-moving images.
The MDT551S also includes the standard features found with all Mitsubishi Electric commercial LCD displays, such as power and input scheduling, a screen saving function to prevent image retention, and PinP/PoutP modes. The MDT551S comes with a remote control with discrete input switching.
